Alt-Rockers, Bad Llama have released a new single, Crooked Empire, title track from their new EP and video to accompany. The quintet based out of Burton Upon Trent makes poignant, poetic rock that sits atop lush detuned guitars and festival-esque, plodding rhythms.

The song begins and the drums play a thick but sparse beat. I am intrigued already, being a fan of big beat drumming with lots of room for air. The guitar strikes a few chords, a warm tremolo escapes and fades, then another and another. I feel like I am standing on a highway at that special time of twilight when the insects start their last scramble for light, and the clouds seem too heavy to float as they hang in the orange-purple sky. The future is finally now, and there is a distant hovering melancholia.
Swedish psych rockers, Norma have released a new single called S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder) and it’s definitely worth the magic bus fare.

Growing up in the Netherlands, I’ve visited the red light district in Amsterdam once or twice ;). It’s a strange, but interesting world out there. Especially if you have only seen pictures or videos. "Red Smoke" by "Saints of Valory" is about lust, love and midnight escapades. It’s a portrait of what an uninhibited teenage fantasy would sound like.
Argonaut & Wasp released their single "Heart Breaks In Bloom" on Jango records, September 22, 2017. Danceable and radio-friendly, the single meanders through all that was sonically cool about earlier decades, and dispenses it effectively to its listener.

Once, years ago, after my band played a weekend festival somewhere in a prairie field I thought it would be a brilliant idea to ingest chocolate covered magic mushrooms while drinking a tremendous amount of alcohol. An hour or so after eating the confectionary treats I stood in the middle of that giant muddy field certain that God existed. It wasn’t long before I had an overpowering realization that I might in fact “be God”.
It’s really quite astonishing how far the sound of dysfunctional amplifiers has travelled over the years. The indisputable fuzzy, squally sound of cranking tubes has inspired many great bands in the past and present alike.
Smoke dances its way through the rustling trees, as the wind chimes sing from the shadows. A tiny white light flickers from the woods. Shiny black crows fight over yesterday's feast. Galloping horses can be heard in the distance, rolling like thunder as they march towards their final destination.
The new single, BMW by Abject Joy is sometimes infectious, always tongue and cheek and the ultimate driving tune.
